New additions to the online family

Once again, the writing machine has been churning out its wares and two websites are now showcasing both of my in production novels and a number of short fictions.

The first of these sites is the HarperCollins vehicle, Authonomy. The website is a showcase for many authors to display their wares, and being able to bring a sizeable chunk of my novels to readers free of charge is the biggest plus I can give the site. The two novels are Don’t Hang Up, a tense thriller in the vein of James Patterson, and Grim Reaping, the comedy of Death in which we discover why it is not healthy to attempt to kill the immortal collector of souls. To read the opening quarter of both novels, visit the site at www.authonomy.com.

The same two novels can also be found on the writing community site of Tome City. Tome is a site featuring general fiction and also a number of interactive fiction stories by some very talented authors. As well as the two novels, I have also posted a number of my shirt fiction stories on the site. Any support or new members to the *FREE* site are appreciated by those who run it, and if you enjoy a good read or maybe want to show off your own imagination then please do.  Check out the site at www.tomecity.com for more information.

Finally for this blog, I have previews of the first cover ideas for both books. The cover of Don’t Hang Up takes its insipration from Hitchock’s Psycho with glaring red and white constrasts dominating its cover, while Grim Reaping is both a minimalist sketch of the quintessential figure of Death against a striking black backgound. The contrast of black and white as well as the pencil sketches will be a main feature of the Grim Reaper series covers.

Don’t Hang Up - An Online Novel Publication

Just a quick blog to announce a new project of mine.

The idea of a story called Don’t Hang Up has been rattling around in my ideas folder for quite some time now - probably a couple of years at least- and only recently did i have the idea to publish it as an online novel before it is completed.

I have been using a few writing sites for quite some time now, and this is a story that has been grinding its way onward on one such site over the last few months. Now the challenge is to produce a chapter every day or two until the completion of the novel which i would expect some time in late January.

The novel is being posted through The Telegraph’s website, and the first three chapters are available now. The site is free to join, but you don’t need to be a member to read the posts. Feel free to take a look at the story as it develops and mail or log any comments. Also, sign up to the newsletter or this blog to get regular updates.

Ain’t No Cure For The Summertime Blogs

Another season  has been and gone and another blog update rolls into town on a tumbleweed. Not many developments to report since the last blog hit this page back in April.

A Christmas Carol Retold is available for sale in hardback or paperback through Amazon and can be ordered through all good bookshops, as the saying goes. A new advertising campaign will launch for the book in October on the Internet and in a number of publications worldwide. Also watch out for a special Ebay auction starting in November when a limited number of Hardback copies will be available for you to bid on. These editions will be a numbered, signed edition that will be available nowhere else and never again. It will be your only chance to own one of these special editions. A collector’s item of the future I’m sure.

In other areas, the thriller Don’t Follow Me is now progressing, along with another thriller, Don’t Hang Up (not connected). My series of Grim Reaper novels is also moving along with the first book almost half complete.

That’s about all for this time. Feel free to drop me a mail at Facebook with any questions or comments you have, I’ll try to respond to them all.

Until next time

Return of the Blog – Now with added Bunnies, Carols and Reapers.

It’s been a while since I updated the blog and thought it was about time to put that right. So here is a bumper update of everything that is happening, has happened, and is upcoming.

Christmas Comes Late (Or extremely early!)

A Christmas Carol Retold has finally made its merry way into the public domain. So much time and effort was put into completing the paperwork in time for a November release that the effective date of the final product was slightly overlooked. This isn’t a conventional take on the story by any means though, so why should its release be anything other than screwed?

Anyway, there are links being plastered all over the websites as I type so I’ll put another one here for good measure.

Also check out a review of the book at Allbooks Reviews.

There is more information on the Retold Series on the Tales from The Back Side website, including details on the second book in the series – Dracula.

Easter Bunnies With Lost Eggs.

The latest addition to the Tales From The Back Side Website is a three part short fictional work called The Lost Eggs of The Bunnies. The story introduces a number of characters I am trying to find a suitable vehicle for in the future.

The idea for the story came from a brainstorm about Easter. Obviously bunnies and eggs spring to mind, and in my mind these are joined by a supporting cast of country yokels, evil villains and a nice Wild West setting.

I had the basic idea of creating some kind of far fetched fantasy, set in the Old West, giving the chance for any number of Western in-jokes, references to some great movies and so on. For this reason, we end up with a Saloon in the centre of the action, lost treasure, and two bunnies called Butch and Sundance.

The first two parts – “The Good, The Bad, and The Bunnies”, and “A Fistful of Bunnies” – are available on the Original Fiction page of the website. The final instalment – “For A Few Bunnies More” – will be available on April 18th.

More news on Butch and Sundance will follow soon.

Grim Humour

Another series currently under the covers is The Grim Reaper Series. I have always been fascinated by Death…not in a sadistic or quite frankly disturbing way. I have never wanted to know what it’s like to die or anything…that is just bizarre and wrong.

No, the Death I am talking about, in my mind, is about 7 feet tall, shrouded in black and always looks like he is on his way to cut the corn. There is something about the personification of Death that appeals to me. Maybe it’s the mystery of an immortal being that spends his existence loitering around in wait of life expiring. What must he have seen? Where must he have been? How shitlessly bored must he get?

These are some of the questions I began with. I currently have two books for the series partially complete. “Grim By Nature”, in which Grim considers retiring from his job, and “Grim Reaping”, in which he turns detective to find out why a group of humans are trying to have him killed.

I’ll post more on the series as it develops, and hopefully the first book should be complete later this year.

Other Bits and Bobs.

Other bits in brief are wide and varied, like the underside of an elephant.

I have written the first two songs and developed a story for a musical set in and around an office on the threshold of Hell. Some of the song titles so far are “

Paradise by The Xerox Light”, “Events in Air Vents” and “Ladies Room – No Room For Ladies.” The project is in very early development so I don’t expect this to be done and dusted anytime soon but I will keep you updated on its progress.

There are a number of other stories that have various pieces written for them including “The Sinner Trilogy”, a series based a poem about an angel on earth; “Desert Raine” and “The Last Magician”, which are both books from the story of “The Syndicate”; “Don’t Follow Me” is a stand-alone thriller.

So, there you have it. That’s your April update. Hopefully, now this blog is up and running correctly, I’ll be able to post more frequently and keep up to date with all the goings on here.

For now, take care,

A.L.

The Brand Spanking New Blog

Yes folks, finally the latest in a long line of blogs is here.

None of the previous blogs have quite lived up to expectations with clunky dashboards, limited space and little by way of suitable design.

But that’s all in the past as this is the ultimate blog for information updates, and the other bits and pieces that i will post every now and again. I’m not promising to post every day, but I will try and give a monthly update.

If there are any brief statements I want to make then I’ll have a quick one - steady, girls - put up.

Well for now I’m busy updating various sites for the release of A Christmas Carol Retold, which is released on Monday and should also soon be available through Amazon.com too.

 Until later, take care

 Anthony.
